Melise and Remo, an Australian and Dutch couple living in Singapore, hosted a 3-day destination wedding on a private island in Montenegro that was deeply personal down to every detail. Set against the fortress backdrop of Mamula Island, the celebration bypassed conventional aesthetics in favor of meaningful choices reflecting their diverse cultures, families, and shared love story.

Guests arrived by boat after receiving only port coordinates on their invites, entering a James Bond-inspired experience complete with secret facts at dinner tables and hidden easter eggs throughout custom artwork. From incorporating photographs and a Hasselblad camera from Remo’s late father, to serving a late-night food station of Dutch and Turkish snacks and placing eye paintings on guest’s plates, every element encapsulated this couple’s quirky and fun relationship. Using the island as it’s never been used before, with mermaid-inspired florals, bespoke Australian-designed gowns, Turkish drummers, belly dancers, and a speakeasy bar, creating an intentional celebration rooted entirely in who they are.
