Allie and Franz, an international couple from the US and Germany who met and got engaged while studying in Scotland, hosted a breathtaking destination wedding at the historic Dumfries House in Ayrshire. Surrounded by family and friends traveling from around the world, the celebrations kicked off with an intimate welcome dinner in The Queen's Garden, complete with a traditional Scottish bagpiper serenading guests through the pristine grounds.
Their wedding day combined timeless heritage and playful design, transitioning from a cozy ceremony in a historic wood-paneled room to a sun-drenched cocktail hour among the garden mazes with a live jazz band. The night concluded inside a draped tent with sweeping countryside views, highlighted by a fresh blue and green color palette, vintage-printed linens, and seasonal local florals woven with Scottish thistle to honor the place where their love story first began.
Design & Event Highlights:
English Garden Floral Curation: Lush garden blooms and hydrangeas were thoughtfully layered with native Scottish thistles to honor the historic setting.
Bespoke Tablescape Styling: Designed for 130 guests, a central statement long table featuring patterned linens and tapered candles was flanked by color-blocked blue and green round tables.
Personalized Stationery: Custom floral-patterned menus were color-coordinated to complement each guest’s individual place setting.
Highland Night Atmosphere: A live band kept the energy alive while guests took in sweeping, panoramic views of the Scottish Highlands under the starry night sky.
